Parent out 10 days with groin injury

As if the Flyers’ defense wasn’t shaky enough, third-pairing defenseman Ryan Parent left Friday’s 4-2 loss to the Florida Panthers with an apparent groin injury.  He will miss up to 10 days and will be replaced on the active roster by Ole-Kristian Tollefsen.

Parent has suffered groin injuries in the past and has recovered fairly quickly from them.

The new third pairing of Tollefsen and Danny Syvret is a combined minus-2 and both individually have been below average.  MA Bourdon will likely be called up from the Phantoms as the seventh practice defenseman. The Flyers will be at home for the next three contests.

Boucher, Tollefsen back; Emery to start next three

Flyers’ backup goaltender Brian Boucher returned to the lineup on Monday after being forced to take a short stint on the IR due to a groin tweak suffered in the preseason.  Goalie Johan Backlund was returned to the Phantoms.

Defenseman Ole-Kristian Tollefsen will also return to the lineup, but will remain inactive for Tuesday’s home opener.  Rookie defenseman MA Bourdon was returned to the Phantoms.

Despite Boucher’s return, the Flyers plan on starting Emery for the next three contests, Tuesday against Washington, Thursday against Pittsburgh and Saturday against the Anaheim Ducks.
