Flyers sign AHL center Greg Moore

According to Capgeek.com, the Flyers have signed 26-year-old, right-handed center Greg Moore to a one-year deal worth $550,000.

At 6’1, 225 lbs., Moore played just four games with the Columbus Blue Jackets last season in which he recording no points.  However, he scored 19 goals and 23 assists in a combined 78 games between the Bridgeport Sound Tigers and the Syracuse Crunch of the AHL.

Moore, a native of Lisbon, Maine and graduate of the University of Maine, was drafted in the fifth round of the 2003 NHL draft by the Calgary Flames.

Moore will likely help fill the center void in Adirondack, which lost pivots Jon Matsumoto and Jared Ross  in the offseason.

Two Winter Classic games on tap for 2011

It’s going to be Winter Classic times two in 2011.

According to a report by TSN,  the NHL is expected to announce two Winter Classic games in 2011 starting with the Pittsburgh Penguins against the Washington Capitals at Heinz Field on New Year’s Day and the Calgary Flames versus the Montreal Canadiens in a place to be determined and a time to be determined in February.  The official announcement is expected to come on Friday.
