CSNPhilly.com confirmed on Tuesday that 35-year-old Flyers defenseman Chris Pronger did indeed undergo minor arthroscopic knee surgery late last week.
However, it is nothing to be alarmed about as Pronger is expected to make a full recovery and be ready to start training camp on Sept. 17.
One of the Flyers’ main objectives this offseason was to acquire enough load-bearing defensemen to take some of the weight off Pronger, who, with a history of chronic knee issues, played an average of 25:55 of ice time per game, ranking him fifth in the entire league.
Pronger recorded 10 goals and 45 assists in his first year with the Flyers.
