According to a press release by the organization on Tuesday, the Flyers have officially signed restricted free agent Dan Carcillo to a one-year deal worth just a shade over $1 million ($1.075). He will remain a RFA after next season.
“We are happy to have Dan under contract for the 2010-11 season,” Holmgren said in the official release.
Carcillo, 25, made $900,000 last season and avoided a pending arbitration hearing by signing the short-term deal with the cap-strapped Flyers, who are now roughly $2.5 million over the salary cap.
The truculant and entertaining forward made an appearance at the Virtua Flyers Skate Zone in Voorhees, N.J. on Monday, which was evidence that a deal was sure to follow.
Carcillo scored 12 goals and 10 assists to accompany his 207 penalty minutes in 76 games last season.
