According to TSN, the Flyers have signed veteran defenseman Sean O’Donnell to a one year deal, $1 million deal.
O’Donnell, 38, is a gritty and physical stay-at-home defenseman. At 6’2, 230 lbs., he gives the Flyers a nasty presence on the blue line while also providing depth and leadership as the sixth or seventh guy. Good team guy that doesn’t shy away from nastiness. Perfect rivalry-style player.
O’Donnell recorded three goals and 12 assists in 78 games with the Los Angeles Kings last season. Despite being in his late 30’s, O’Donnell has missed just seven games in his last four seasons.
He won the Stanley Cup with Anaheim in 2006 with Flyers defenseman Chris Pronger.
