EA leaks Toews as NHL 11 cover boy

It looks like  Jonathan Toews’ year just got a bit better.  If an Olympic gold medal, Stanley Cup and Conn Smythe weren’t enough for the young captain of the Chicago Blackhawks, it appears as if the 22-year-old will follow teammate Patrick Kane (NHL 10) and grace the cover of NHL 11.

With all the hoopla surrounding E3 (the video game community’s Stanley Cup Finals) happening this week in Los Angeles,  it’s not difficult to see how Electronic Arts accidentally leaked the cover art to NHL 11.  For a brief period of time, the EA website featured art for the game but as soon since taken it down.

Due out on Sept. 14, EA Sports typically likes to wait until the late summer months to formally declare the individual to grace their cover.  Unfortunately, that proverbial cat seems out of the bag, not that anyone is surprised at the choice.

One can only imagine who may have been chosen had the Flyers won the Cup over the Blackhawks. Either way, the Orange and Black will be featured in plenty of previews for the game and will be one of two teams playable in the demo which typically debuts less than a month prior to the official release.
