Maybe it’s due to the holiday weekend or just the sheer population of the cities represented, either way, the Chicago Blackhawks and Philadelphia Flyers are cleaning up in the Stanley Cup Finals ratings game.
After a dominating 2.8 overnight rating performance in game 1 on Saturday, the big markets broke records again in game 2 by earning a whopping 4.1 overnight rating on NBC to become the most watched Stanley Cup Finals game 2 since the records started being kept in 1975.
The amount of people watching the Blackhawks win game 2, 2-1, was up 21-percent from last year’s final between the Detroit Red Wings and Pittsburgh Penguins.
With NBC showering in the weekend ratings bonanza, VERSUS will now have its opportunity as the network takes over for games 3 and 4 on Wednesday and Friday in Philadelphia.
