As defenseman Danny Syvret gathered himself after being boarded by Dallas’ Steve Ott in the first period of the Flyers’ 6-3 win Tuesday, it was clear something was wrong. The 24-year-old slinked over and immediately headed for the trainers room.
The diagnosis was ligament damage in his shoulder, which could sideline the blue liner for a several weeks. However, coming off a knee strain, Ole-Kristien Tollefsen is vastly approaching 100-percent and will replace Syvret in the lineup. Ryan Parent remains out with a mysterious lower back problem.
Syvret has two goals and two assists in 21 games this season. The unexperienced rear guard struggled under former coach John Stevens, but has found new life in Peter Laviolette’s system. Syvret scored his first two NHL goals in Jan.
