Flyers hint at opening game lines at practice

The Flyers participated in a light but typical practice Thursday before traveling to Raleigh for the season opener against the Hurricanes on Friday.   The combinations used by coach John Stevens might shed some light on the opening-day roster.

James van Riemsdyk , Claude Giroux and Darroll Powe were paired together as a possible third line, while Dan Carcillo, Blair Betts  and Ian Laperriere should work as the fourth line.  The biggest news coming out of these combinations is that it appears as if Riley Cote and Arron Asham will be the healthy scratches.

Rookie defenseman Marc-Andre Bourdon will travel with the team as the seventh defense due to Ole-Kristian Tollefsen’s hip soreness, that has him assigned to the 7-day IR.

Here is the projected line up for opening day…

Forwards

Mika Pyorala – Mike Richards – Simon Gagne

Scott Hartnell – Jeff Carter – Danny Briere

JVR – Giroux – Powe

Carcillo – Betts – Laperriere

Defense

Braydon Coburn – Kimmo Timonen

Chris Pronger – Matt Carle

Ryan Parent – Danny Syvret
