Flyers make first round of cuts

The Flyers were one of the last teams in the NHL to make official cuts, but that day has finally come.

It was announced earlier that NHL vet Mark Bell and try-out Adrian Foster were released and that Andreas Nodl, Jared Ross and Jon Kalinski have been assigned to the Phantoms.

Leading the second wave of not surprising cuts is Josh Beaulieu, Rob Bellamy, Matt Clackson, Ryan Dingle, Garrett Klotz, Jon Matsumoto, Tomas Sinisalo, Oskars Bartulis, Marc-Andre Bourdon, Joonas Lehtivuori, Kevin Marshall, Mike Ratchuk, David Sloane, Logan Stephenson, Matt Duchene, Nicola Riopel, Michael-Lee Teslak.

All have been assigned to the Phantoms.

Those sent back to their junior teams include David Labreque, Eric Wellwood, Zac Rinaldo, Jacob Deserres, Adam Morrison.

The Flyers have signed juniors try-out defenseman Tyler Hostetter.  Hostetter, a Pennsylvania native, was returned to the Erie Otters after signing the contract.  The 5’11 blue liner is a right-handed shot and plays relatively mean.

James van Riemsdyk, Blair Betts, Mika Pyorala, David Laliberte, Patrick Maroon and Danny Syvret have remained on the team so far.

    18 forwards remain…that’s 6 lines.

very curious how this is all going to shake out.

    here is my prediction:

    gagne – richards – ??
    hartnell – carter – pyorala
    jvr – giroux – briere
    powe – betts – laperriere

that leaves carcillo, cote, maroon, laliberte, asham, kaspar, and ward battling for 2 spots (the other winger for richards and the 13th “scratch” forward). i think i might like to see jvr play on the gags-richy line and have maroon play with giroux and briere. than have asham or ward be #13. BUT…that would mean no cote or carcillo.

then the d…what i’m hoping to see

    pronger – carle
    timonen – coburn
    parent – syvret
    tollefsen

with jones being sent somewhere (either phantoms or elsewhere dont matter to me)
