When it was first announced that defenseman Chris Pronger would be joining the Flyers, some fans were curious as to which jersey number he would pick since fellow defenseman Matt Carle held his traditional 25. Days later, Carle, in an act of kindness or intimidation, relinquished 25 to the future Hall of Famer and accepted to wear 20. However, the deal was put on hold when Pronger abruptly changed his mind.
Pronger has selected to wear No. 20, as a sign of a new beginning. But more so, the hulking blue liner asked his kids what they liked more, 20 or 25, and they picked 20. Pronger wore 25 in Anaheim and 44 in Edmonton and St. Louis.
The Flyers will hold a press conference, introducing Pronger to Philadelphia, Monday at noon. The PC will be streaming at CSNphilly.com.
