On Monday, General Manager Paul Holmgren gave the media a length hospital list of new injuries, old injuries and lingering problems facing the Flyers in the next couple of weeks. Already shorthanded to the point of having multiple defenseman play third and fourth line roles on the West coast road trip, the Flyers could look more like the Phantoms in the next two weeks.
Here is a truncated list of injuries..
Danny Briere (Groin) – IR – Out at least one more week.
Simon Gagne (Rotator Cuff) – dtd – Still recovering. Game time decision Tuesday.
Arron Asham (Lower Body) – dtd – MRI showed nothing serious. Game time decision Tuesday.
Darroll Powe (Hip) – dtd – Lingering hip injury could lead to surgery. Will not play Tuesday.
Claude Giroux (Concussion) – dtd – Still not feeling well after the elbow from Corey Perry. Will not play Tuesday.
Josh Gratton (Stomach bug) – dtd -Nothing serious, still recovering from bug. Game time decision Tuesday.
Jon Kalinski (Thigh Contusion) – IR – Not able to get swelling down on a thigh contusion, Kalinski was admitted to the hospital, where they opened it up to drain. Out minimum two weeks.
Joffrey Lupul (Abdominal pull) – IR – Out 14 days.
Antero Niittymaki (Lower body) – IR – Out a week to 10 days.
Andreas Nodl and goaltender Scott Munroe have been recalled from the Phantoms. Defenseman Luca Sbisa may remain as a depth forward.
