On Thursday, the Philadelphia Flyers released the long-awaited 2008-09 preseason schedule. The Flyers begin at home against the New Jersey Devils on September 22 and wrap up on October 4 on the road against those same Devils.
On Saturday Sept. 22, the Flyers will face Rod Brind’Amour and the Carolina Hurricanes for a final farewell to the Flyers’ first-ever home, the Wachovia Spectrum, which is set to be demolished in 2009. The Flyers would have liked to make their final visit to the Spectrum during the regular season, but because of advertisers and season ticket holder concerns, the preseason was the best they could do.
Also announced, the Flyers will start training camp at The Virtua Skate Zone in Voorhees, N.J. on Sept. 20.
